Toronto, ON, Canada (November  29, 2023) – PomeGran Inc., a leading owner and operator of fibre and fixed wireless rural broadband networks across North America, under the brands of IceNet Wireless, CochraneTel, Canquest Communications and Digicom, is pleased to announce the awarding of two PomeGran Scholarships for Women in STEM with Centennial College.

Both domestic and international women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) students were eligible for the PomeGran Scholarships, with a minimum academic standing. The applicants had to outline the reasons they deserved this scholarship, and how it would impact their lives. They also had to describe what their ideal job would be after they graduate, related to their respective program or industry.

“Women continue to be underrepresented in studying and working in STEM. We wish to support and inspire women towards equal representation in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, to help build a bright future,” said Dr. Kalai S. Kalaichelvan, Chairman & CEO, PomeGran.

“I am delighted that two outstanding students – one from the three-year Software Engineering Technology program and one from the two-year Software Engineering Technician program – are receiving the inaugural PomeGran Scholarships for Women in STEM,” said Dr. Craig Stephenson, President, and CEO of Centennial College. “At a time of growing job vacancies in the trades and the need for far more women to be a part of such roles, we are incredibly proud to partner with industry leaders like PomeGran to empower girls and women in their pursuit of non-traditional career paths, and ultimately, transform lives and communities through learning,” he concluded.

PomeGran has had a long 20-year history of being socially responsible with ESG partnerships across all sectors. Specifically, PomeGran launched the Women in STEM program in 2022 on International Women’s Day, and has committed to investing in 6 – 10 Women in STEM Scholarships for Colleges in Ontario, Atlantic Canada, and Quebec over a five-year period, investing a total of $150,000.
