Cost-Effective NATO-Band Communications Infrastructure for U.S. Military Projects
OTTAWA, CANADA (JULY 30, 2019) — EION Wireless, a leading manufacturer of wireless systems for private networks, today announced it has received JF-12 certification from the U.S. Army Spectrum Management Office for its StarPLUS 4448 NATO-band wireless radios. EION’s StarPLUS is designed to transmit and receive high-speed communication data wirelessly over short or long haul. The certification demonstrates that the product has met stringent security, reliability and flexibility requirements for U.S. military network deployments.
StarPLUS has its own Element Management Software (EMS) that helps the installer configure the system at the radio level. The radios can integrate with EION’s Network Management System (NMS), Constellation; and Help Systems’ NMS, Intermapper. StarPLUS has SNMP-based management protocols where 3rd Party COTS-based network management software can be easily integrated.
This approval by the U.S. Army Spectrum Management Office will allow the use of StarPLUS 4448 radios in all branches of the U.S. Military. This will enable various departments to build private, licensed networks with EION radios and manage the radios using a centralized network management system in the Network Operations Center (NOC). EION has developed two versions of the product with different form factors: one with a larger footprint that can be mounted on towers or buildings; and the other with a compact footprint that can be easily integrated into U.S. Military vehicles to create private networks.
