SmartRIM is an integrated monitoring and management IoT device to help reduce operational costs, service downtime and tighten SLAs.

OTTAWA, ON, CANADA (November 3, 2020) — EION Wireless, a leading provider of wireless systems to Tier I operators, ISPs and enterprises, today announced that it is launching SmartRIM 5000, an IoT-enabled device, as a sensor-aggregation platform. SmartRIM is co-located in the remote infrastructure operated by ISPs and telecom operators.  It can be remotely monitored and managed from the Network Operations Center (NOC) to manage primarily telecom towers, and to also monitor infrastructure, such as remote buildings, storage warehouses and remote campus environments. SmartRIM 5000 is a carrier-grade, modular, sensor-aggregation platform that can be integrated with custom sensors and easily deployed in a geographically distributed national network infrastructure.

SmartRIM 5000 reduces equipment downtime, time for repairs, helps customers meet SLAs and provides a reliable and powerful integrated dashboard to manage disparate tower sites. For example, SmartRIM allows you to reboot or perform a hardware-reset to any device, thereby minimizing truck rolls.  Trial customers have witnessed a 30-40% decrease in truck rolls. Typical ISP or carrier operators can deploy multiple SmartRIM devices in their sphere of operation and manage the SmartRIM devices for a network of remote sites or for an individual site with MosaiQ, the network-monitoring platform that comes with SmartRIM.

EION’s SmartRIM 5000 is a 19-inch rack or table mountable, expandable IoT sensor aggregation system with carrier-grade hardware, customized sensors and firmware integrated with a GUI-based monitoring dashboard and the SNMP-based monitoring platform, MosaiQ, for alarm notifications.

Some of the feature highlights of SmartRIM 5000 are:

  • Sensor Monitoring and Reporting System
  • Remote Power Relay system
  • Auto-ping functionality
  • Temperature and Humidity Sensors
  • Web-based Management GUI Configuration and Monitoring
  • MosaiQ IoT/Network Monitoring System
  • Self diagnostics – Indication of Device Status
  • Compatible with SNMP v1/v2/v3 Reporting
  • NTP Sync from Internet

“SmartRIM is an essential product for all telecom tower operators. The Remote Power Relay with auto-ping functionality would be a perfect solution for Network Operations Centers to reduce downtime and truck rolls and the sensor monitoring and reporting platform ensures healthy infrastructure with reduced operational costs,” says Amir Tabatabaei, IoT Product Architect, EION Wireless. “Continuous monitoring and data patterns through SmartRIM 5000 ensure optimized resource utilization and high productivity,” concludes Amir Tabatabaei.

Over the past 20 years, EION has been a trusted provider of rugged communications infrastructure globally, with over 350,000 radios deployed worldwide. The JF-12 Certification recently received from the US Army Spectrum Office clearly demonstrates that EION’s products can be rapidly adopted to deploy wireless networks where NATO frequencies are being used.
