Alma, Quebec – (September 4, 2025) – Digicom, a pioneer in high-speed internet and fibre-optic connectivity in Quebec, proudly marks its 30th anniversary this year. Since its founding in 1995, Digicom has grown from a local service provider into a leader in bridging the digital divide in the SagLac and Outaouais regions, empowering communities north of the 49th parallel, and driving innovation across the telecommunications sector.

“Thirty years ago, we started with a vision: to connect people, no matter where they live,” said Christine Marion, President and Co-Founder of Digicom. “Today, as we celebrate this milestone, we remain as committed as ever to building a future where every household, every business, and every community has access to the opportunities that fibre-optic technology makes possible,” she concluded.

Kalai S. Kalaichelvan, Chief Executive Officer of parent company PomeGran added: “Digicom’s story is one of determination, innovation, and service to communities that many others overlooked. At PomeGran, we are proud to have Digicom in our family of companies, because its mission aligns perfectly with our vision: to create lasting impact through connectivity, technology, and human ingenuity. This 30th anniversary is not just a celebration of the past—it’s a foundation for decades to come. Digicom forms the cornerstone of our fibre-first strategy.”

The 30th anniversary celebrations took place at Auberge des Îles, bringing together employees and their families for a multi-activity event featuring outdoor activities, recognition of long term employees who worked with Digicom for 20 and 15 years and a cocktail reception and gala dinner. The program highlighted Digicom’s journey, its employees’ dedication, and its mission to continue expanding reliable connectivity across rural and northern regions of Quebec.

PomeGran’s commitment to education and community development is reflected in initiatives such as the PomeGran Women in STEM Scholarship Program, which empowers the next generation of women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). These scholarships, awarded annually, help students like Digicom’s own team members pursue their studies and careers in technology.

In addition, PomeGran and Digicom share a strong commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. This includes reducing the environmental footprint of infrastructure projects, fostering inclusive and respectful workplaces, and ensuring that investments in connectivity contribute to sustainable community growth. A concrete example is PomeGran’s partnership with Evertreen, which supports large-scale tree planting and reforestation initiatives to help offset carbon emissions and create a greener future for generations to come. The PomeGran forest contains over 35,000 new trees, to date.

Over the past three decades, Digicom has:

· Built an 1800 km FTTH network in the SagLac and Outaouais regions.

· Connected thousands of households and businesses with high-speed fibre internet.

· Led major projects such as the Fibre Expansion Team (FET) to extend broadband access across northern Quebec.

· Partnered with governments and communities to close the digital divide.

“As we look ahead, fibre is not just about speed—it’s the foundation of the digital economy,” added Marion. “The next chapter will be about enabling smart communities, supporting innovation, and ensuring no one is left behind.”
