On Friday, April 17, PomeGran hosted its "Fibre Internet is Coming to Northern Ontario" webinar as part of a broader series of live and virtual events supporting the Northern Ontario Gigabit Fibre Project. Building on previous community meetings and milestone updates across the region, this session focused on presenting project progress to community leaders and project partners, while providing community members with the opportunity to stay informed and engaged as the project moves forward.

Fibre is here, and it's moving now.

If you missed it or want the highlights, here's what matters most.

Real Progress, Happening Now

The Northern Ontario Gigabit Fibre Project is already delivering results:

  • 18,663 homes being connected, including 2,580 Indigenous households
  • Over 500 km of fibre installed
  • Live customers connected since July 2025
  • Service now available in Johnson Township, Echo Bay, Gorebay, and Whitefish.

This is not future planning, it is active deployment and activation across the region.

Built for Scale Across Northern Ontario

Spanning 50,000 km², the Northern Ontario Gigabit Fibre Project is designed to deliver long-term, reliable connectivity across the region.

From fibre hubs to backbone infrastructure, everything is built to support growth, performance, and future demand.

Open Access, Enabling More Choice

PomeGran's open access model is enabling more choice and better service for communities across Northern Ontario.

Instead of relying on a single provider, multiple ISPs can operate on the same fibre network, giving residents and businesses the ability to choose the provider that best fits their needs.

This approach drives:

  • Competitive pricing
  • Improved service quality
  • Greater innovation across providers

The webinar featured perspectives from participating and prospective ISP partners, including NIVO, FirstTel (ManitouLink), and VerisTel (True 802 Wireless), highlighting how this model will bring real options to the communities being served.

NIVO is Here

A key part of the webinar was sharing updates on NIVO, our ISP brand, and how it will support homes and businesses as fibre becomes available across the region.

With NIVO, customers can expect:

  • High-speed, reliable fibre
  • Low latency and symmetrical performance
  • A simple, customer-first experience

During the session, we also introduced NIVO for Business, bringing enterprise-grade connectivity to local organizations and supporting their day-to-day operations, growth, and long-term success.

More Than Infrastructure

This project is about more than fibre in the ground.

Through community meetings, local partnerships, and ongoing engagement, PomeGran is building strong relationships across Northern Ontario, ensuring communities are informed, involved, and supported every step of the way.

What Fibre Unlocks, Starting Now

During the webinar, we asked a simple question:

What will fibre unlock for you?

The answer is already taking shape, more opportunity for communities, businesses, and families across Northern Ontario.
