Cochrane, ON – (November 13, 2025) – CochraneTel was proud to take part in Take Our Kids to Work Day on November 5, welcoming Grade 9 student Neko Shortt-Clarke to spend the day learning alongside her father Chris Clarke, a technician with the company. During her visit, Neko gained hands-on experience with some of the essential services that keep our community connected. She helped test landlines, interacted with customers, and learned how fibre optic technology delivers phone, data, and television services to customers. Neko also participated in safety orientation before heading out into the field, highlighting the importance of maintaining a safe and responsible workplace.

Through her experience, Neko discovered how vital reliable internet and communication services are to the public and how essential those are to everyday life.

“My biggest takeaway from the day was seeing how much work goes into keeping people linked to the Internet,” said Neko. “I already had an idea of how complex the systems were behind making a phone call or going online, because dad always talks about it, but the experience of seeing it made me appreciate it more,” she added.

“At CochraneTel, we believe in investing in our community and inspiring the next generation,” said Roxanne DesRoches, General Manager of CochraneTel. “Programs like Take Our Kids to Work Day show students that the work we do every day directly impacts people’s lives – connecting families, supporting businesses, and strengthening our town.”

Chris said having his daughter join him for the day was a meaningful experience.

“It was great to show Neko what I do and why it matters. She got to see firsthand how much teamwork and care go into keeping our customers happy,” Chris said. “Turns out, she’s naturally great with customers.”

“I’m proud she could experience that, and I think she got an inkling of how important reliable internet and communication services are for everyone,” Chris added.

CochraneTel is proud to support Take our Kids to Work Day, helping students explore career paths and understand the value of the work that their moms and dads do to keep our communities connected.
